{"id":14396,"date":"2021-03-03T15:29:41","date_gmt":"2021-03-03T15:29:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/seguridad-en-el-voto-electronico-2\/"},"modified":"2021-05-17T16:07:41","modified_gmt":"2021-05-17T16:07:41","slug":"security-electronic-voting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/security-electronic-voting\/","title":{"rendered":"Security in Electronic Voting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"color: #eb225b;\">Characteristics<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">First able, we affirm that, as a general rule, IT systems related to electronic voting are safe due to their three fundamental characteristics and\/or pillars, namely, <span style=\"color: #0079be;\"><strong>CONFIDENTIALITY, INTEGRITY <\/strong><\/span>and<strong><span style=\"color: #0079be;\"> AVAILABILITY<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now let us define each of the characteristics <em>ut supra<\/em> indicated:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">CONFIDENTIALITY refers to voter privacy,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">INTEGRITY refers to the accuracy of the results,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">AVAILABILITY means continuity until the voting process is completed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"color: #eb225b;\">Auditability<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition to the features mentioned in the preceding paragraphs, we refer to a further characteristic the so-called <span style=\"color: #0079be;\"><strong>VERIFIABILITY<\/strong><\/span> of the electronic voting system, as it is necessary to be able to verify its level of security, its reliability and that it works as it should.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In relation to the last paragraph, it is stated that the main requirements for considering a voting system verifiable are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Identification of each individual machine<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Each event detected must be able to be individualized<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Possibility of reviewing with which procedure defined and with which case the machines are archived (including reserve ones)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Each software file must have a unique identification<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">The ID is associated with its corresponding operating documentation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Certifications and licences<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"color: #eb225b;\">weVote System Security<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Secondly, the electronic voting systems developed by <span style=\"color: #0079be;\"><strong>weVote<\/strong><\/span> are safe as they have been designed according to the standards and principles recognized by good practice in IT administration, so much so that it guarantees 100% that no illegitimate votes are added and prevents the alteration of legitimate votes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the third place, electronic voting is becoming more secure every day as it is characterized by, between others:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Trust<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Anonymity<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Integrity of results<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Universal and individual verification<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Precision<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Neutrality<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Reliability<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Legitimacy of the voter<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Incoercibility<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Robustness<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"color: #eb225b; line-height: 1.2em;\">Electronic Voting Security Principles<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fourthly, we defend the cyber security of electronic voting as the safe technology&#8217; principles are applied, as they are, for e.g., between others:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Risk administration<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Scheme of: Active-Threat-Vulnerability<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Incident management<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0079be;\"><strong>weVote<\/strong><\/span>, also, ensures that the software code can be revised, verified and encrypted so that each time it is given validity, the same cannot be modified for the author, his controllers or his \u201ckeepers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lastly, we highlight some advantages and\/or benefits of eVote:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Increase in the speed and effectiveness of electoral activities<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Increase in the speed of obtaining election results<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Improving the accuracy of election results<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0079be;\">Improvement in capacity to identify and prevent fraudulent situations<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finally, we note that <span style=\"color: #0079be;\"><strong>weVote <\/strong><\/span>operates according to the requirements and\/or standards established in the ISO\/IEC 27001 and in the eIDAS.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text] Characteristics [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":14256,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[122,134,128,146,140,144,142],"tags":[],"amp_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/14396"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=14396"}],"version-history":[{"count":9,"href":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/14396\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":15222,"href":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/14396\/revisions\/15222"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/14256"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=14396"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=14396"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.wevote.eu\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=14396"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
